Syngonium ‘Morubay’, botanically presented as Syngonium sp. ‘Morubay’, is a collectible tropical aroid admired for its distinctive foliage and elegant climbing growth. Its bold leaf shape and lush appearance make it an attractive choice for Syngonium collectors looking for an unusual indoor tropical plant.

Plant Characteristics

Syngonium Morubay produces broad, arrow-shaped to slightly lobed leaves with a smooth surface and a substantial tropical appearance. Leaf shape and proportions may gradually change as the plant matures, especially when it is allowed to climb.

This Syngonium has a vining, root-climbing growth habit and can be trained on a moss pole, trellis, or other vertical support. Providing support encourages stronger growth and may help the plant develop larger, more mature foliage. Indoors, its final size can be managed through pruning, while established vines may grow several feet long under favorable conditions.

Care Guide

Place Syngonium Morubay in bright, indirect light. Avoid intense direct sunlight, which may scorch the foliage, although insufficient light can result in slower growth.

Water when the top 1–2 inches of the growing medium feel slightly dry. Keep the soil lightly moist but never waterlogged, and always use a pot with adequate drainage. A chunky, well-draining aroid mix containing coco coir or peat, orchid bark, perlite, and charcoal is recommended.

Maintain moderate to high humidity, ideally above 60%, with consistent airflow. The preferred temperature range is approximately 65–85°F. Protect the plant from cold drafts and prolonged temperatures below 55°F. Its overall care level is considered easy to moderate.

Why Collectors Love It

Collectors appreciate Syngonium Morubay for its distinctive foliage, adaptable climbing habit, and potential to develop larger mature leaves. It is a rewarding choice for collectors who enjoy uncommon Syngonium varieties and tropical climbing houseplants.

I am so incredibly late on posting this video. This plant came in 3 weeks ago now and I’m just getting to posting this and I almost thought I wasn’t going to. My editing software was not working for anything, but I got it all fixed so now I can start getting out lots of videos we’ve recorded recently!🪴
