Schlumbergera truncata Variegated, scientifically known as Schlumbergera truncata, is a distinctive variegated form of the popular Thanksgiving cactus, valued for its patterned foliage and mature, cascading growth. Its segmented green stems display attractive cream-to-yellow variegation, giving this collectible tropical cactus year-round ornamental appeal even when it is not in bloom.
Plant Characteristics
Unlike desert cacti, Schlumbergera truncata is an epiphytic cactus with flattened, leaf-like stem segments called cladodes. The segments have characteristic pointed or toothed edges and a smooth, slightly succulent texture. In the variegated form, each segment may display unique combinations of green, cream, yellow, or pale coloration.
As a mature plant, Schlumbergera truncata Variegated develops a branching, arching-to-trailing growth habit that works beautifully in decorative pots or hanging containers. Mature specimens generally become fuller and wider over time, with stems naturally cascading over the edge of the pot. Seasonal flowers may appear under suitable growing conditions.
