Philodendron ‘Thai Sunrise’ is a striking collectible Philodendron known for its elongated foliage and vibrant lime-green to golden-yellow coloration framed by deeper green tones. Botanically, it is best listed as Philodendron ‘Thai Sunrise’, a horticultural cultivar whose exact parentage has not been definitively confirmed. Its bright tropical appearance makes it an eye-catching addition to indoor plant collections.

Plant Characteristics

Thai Sunrise develops elongated, lance-shaped to elliptic leaves with a smooth, slightly glossy surface. The foliage is especially attractive because of its contrasting chartreuse, lime-green, and darker green coloration, which can become more pronounced under suitable lighting conditions.

This Philodendron has a climbing growth habit and benefits from a moss pole, coco pole, or trellis as it matures. Providing vertical support can encourage stronger growth and increasingly impressive foliage. Mature size varies depending on growing conditions, available support, and cultivation environment.

Care Guide

Grow Philodendron Thai Sunrise in bright, indirect light to support healthy growth and maintain its distinctive foliage coloration. Avoid intense midday sun, which can scorch lighter portions of the leaves.

Water thoroughly when the top 1–2 inches of the growing medium feels dry, allowing excess water to drain completely. Maintain moderate to high humidity, preferably around 60–80%, and temperatures between approximately 65–85°F.

Use a loose, well-draining aroid mix containing ingredients such as orchid bark, perlite or pumice, coco coir, and other aerating materials. Good drainage is essential to reduce the risk of root rot. Overall, Thai Sunrise can be considered a moderate-care Philodendron suitable for collectors with basic tropical plant experience.

Why Collectors Love It

Collectors appreciate Philodendron Thai Sunrise for its luminous yellow-green foliage, contrasting darker green coloration, and elegant climbing form. Its distinctive “sunrise” appearance creates strong visual impact without requiring the highly specialized care associated with some variegated collector plants.

My editing software was not working for anything, but I got it all fixed so now I can start getting out lots of videos we’ve recorded recently!🪴
