Philodendron Golden Xanadu (Thaumatophyllum xanadu ‘Golden’) is a striking tropical foliage plant prized for its bright golden-lime leaves and naturally compact, bushy growth. Its deeply lobed foliage creates a lush, architectural appearance, making this golden Philodendron an eye-catching choice for rare plant collectors, tropical plant enthusiasts, and indoor plant displays.
Plant Characteristics
Golden Xanadu produces deeply divided, glossy leaves in vibrant chartreuse to golden-green shades. Unlike climbing Philodendrons, it develops a self-heading, dense growth habit, forming an attractive rounded plant as it matures. With proper care, mature plants can develop increasingly large, dramatic foliage while maintaining their compact and structured appearance.
Care Guide
-
Light: Bright, indirect light is recommended to maintain strong growth and vibrant golden coloration. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight.
-
Water: Water when the upper layer of the growing medium begins to dry. Avoid keeping the roots constantly wet.
-
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity, ideally around 60–80%.
-
Temperature: Thrives at approximately 65–85°F (18–29°C). Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
-
Soil: Use a well-draining, airy tropical plant or aroid mix containing materials such as coco coir, bark, perlite, and other coarse components that provide good root aeration.
Why Collectors Love It
Collectors appreciate Philodendron Golden Xanadu for its combination of vibrant golden foliage, deeply lobed leaf shape, and naturally full growth habit. Its distinctive color provides beautiful contrast alongside darker green Philodendrons, Anthuriums, Monsteras, and other tropical houseplants.

I am so incredibly late on posting this video. This plant came in 3 weeks ago now and I’m just getting to posting this and I almost thought I wasn’t going to. My editing software was not working for anything, but I got it all fixed so now I can start getting out lots of videos we’ve recorded recently!🪴
