Hoya sp. “Tanggamus” is an intriguing Indonesian Hoya valued for its distinctive foliage and collector appeal. This unidentified Hoya species from Tanggamus offers a naturally tropical character that makes it especially attractive to Hoya enthusiasts seeking unusual regional forms and lesser-known collector plants.

Plant Characteristics

Hoya sp. “Tanggamus” develops firm, textured foliage with an attractive natural shape and a vining growth habit typical of many tropical Hoyas. As the plant matures, its vines can lengthen considerably and are best trained along a trellis, hoop, or other climbing support.

Leaf size, shape, coloration, and venation may become more pronounced as the plant establishes and matures. Its final size depends on growing conditions, support, nutrition, and overall care, making each mature specimen slightly unique in appearance.

Care Guide

Grow Hoya sp. “Tanggamus” in bright, indirect light for healthy foliage and steady growth. Avoid prolonged exposure to intense midday sun, which may damage the leaves.

Water thoroughly when the upper portion of the growing medium has partially dried. Avoid keeping the roots constantly wet, as Hoyas generally perform best in an airy, fast-draining substrate.

Maintain moderate to high humidity, ideally around 60–80%, together with good air circulation. Recommended temperatures are approximately 65–85°F. Use a chunky tropical plant mix containing orchid bark, coco chips, perlite, and other well-draining materials.

Providing a trellis or climbing support can encourage stronger vines and more mature growth. Overall care level is considered moderate.

Why Collectors Love It

Collectors appreciate Hoya sp. “Tanggamus” for its Indonesian origin, distinctive foliage, and uncommon collector character. It is an appealing choice for enthusiasts looking to expand their collection beyond widely available Hoya species.

I am so incredibly late on posting this video. This plant came in 3 weeks ago now and I’m just getting to posting this and I almost thought I wasn’t going to. My editing software was not working for anything, but I got it all fixed so now I can start getting out lots of videos we’ve recorded recently!🪴
