Hoya Rindu Rafflesia
Hoya sp. ‘Rindu Rafflesia’ is a rare Indonesian collector’s Hoya admired for its elongated foliage, distinctive silver splash, and elegant tropical appearance. Originating from the Bengkulu region of Sumatra, this unusual wax plant brings a refined combination of deep green coloring, silvery markings, and graceful vining growth to any rare houseplant collection.
Plant Characteristics
Hoya Rindu Rafflesia produces long, narrow to elliptical leaves with a thick, slightly succulent texture and a smooth, waxy surface. Each leaf may display unique silver flecks, splashes, or broader pale markings, making every plant visually different. It develops slender vines that can be trained around a trellis or allowed to trail naturally from a hanging pot. With suitable support and consistent care, the vines can gradually grow several feet long indoors.
Care Guide
Provide bright, indirect light to encourage healthy growth and stronger silver markings. Gentle morning sunlight may be beneficial, but avoid intense midday sun that can scorch the foliage. Water when approximately 60–80% of the growing medium has dried, allowing excess water to drain completely. Maintain humidity around 50–70% and temperatures between 65–82°F (18–28°C). Use a chunky, airy, and fast-draining Hoya soil mix containing materials such as orchid bark, coco chips, perlite, and a small amount of organic potting medium. Avoid dense soil and prolonged moisture around the roots.
