Hoya ranauensis is a distinctive tropical climbing Hoya valued by collectors for its elongated foliage, elegant growth habit, and refined botanical appearance. With its naturally vining form and attractive leaves, this collectible Hoya makes an excellent choice for enthusiasts seeking an unusual tropical houseplant with strong visual character.

Plant Characteristics

Hoya ranauensis typically develops elongated to lance-shaped green leaves with a smooth to slightly firm texture and noticeable venation. The foliage is arranged along flexible climbing vines, giving the plant an elegant, natural appearance as it matures.

This species has a vining growth habit and benefits from a trellis, pole, or other climbing support. Under good growing conditions, the vines can extend several feet over time, while leaf size and overall plant form may vary depending on maturity, light, humidity, and nutrition.

Care Guide

Grow Hoya ranauensis in bright, indirect light for healthy foliage and steady growth. Avoid prolonged exposure to intense direct midday sun, which may damage the leaves.

Water thoroughly when the upper portion of the growing medium has partially dried. Avoid keeping the roots constantly wet. Moderate to high humidity, ideally around 60–80%, supports healthy tropical growth, while good air circulation helps maintain balanced conditions.

Keep temperatures around 65–85°F and protect the plant from cold drafts. Use a loose, well-draining Hoya mix containing materials such as orchid bark, coco chips, perlite, and other airy components. A pot with reliable drainage and climbing support is recommended. Overall, Hoya ranauensis is best suited to growers comfortable with moderate-care tropical plants.

Why Collectors Love It

Collectors appreciate Hoya ranauensis for its graceful climbing habit, elongated foliage, and less-common appearance compared with many mainstream Hoyas. Its combination of elegant leaves and tropical character makes it a rewarding addition to a curated Hoya collection.

I am so incredibly late on posting this video. This plant came in 3 weeks ago now and I’m just getting to posting this and I almost thought I wasn’t going to. My editing software was not working for anything, but I got it all fixed so now I can start getting out lots of videos we’ve recorded recently!🪴
