Hoya New Sp. Buntok

Hoya New Sp. Buntok, scientifically identified as Hoya sp. “Buntok,” is a rare, locality-type Hoya originating from the Buntok region of Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. This uncommon tropical plant features attractive foliage and a naturally elegant trailing growth habit, making it a distinctive addition to any rare Hoya or indoor plant collection.

Plant Characteristics

Hoya New Sp. Buntok produces firm, slightly succulent leaves with a smooth to subtly textured surface. The foliage typically has an elongated oval shape with defined tips and a rich green appearance that may vary depending on light exposure and growing conditions. As a climbing or trailing epiphytic plant, it grows best with support such as a trellis, moss pole, or hanging basket. With proper care, mature vines can grow several feet long and develop fuller foliage over time.

Care Guide

Provide bright, indirect light to encourage healthy growth while protecting the leaves from intense afternoon sunlight. Allow the top layer of the growing medium to dry slightly before watering again, as excessive moisture may cause root problems. Maintain humidity between 60–80% with good airflow. The ideal temperature range is approximately 65–85°F (18–29°C). Use a well-draining, airy Hoya soil mix containing orchid bark, coco chips, perlite, and a small amount of high-quality potting medium.

Why Collectors Love It

Collectors appreciate Hoya New Sp. Buntok for its limited availability, Indonesian locality origin, and elegant foliage. Its rarity and unidentified species status make it especially appealing to experienced Hoya enthusiasts and collectors seeking unusual botanical varieties.

I am so incredibly late on posting this video. This plant came in 3 weeks ago now and I’m just getting to posting this and I almost thought I wasn’t going to. My editing software was not working for anything, but I got it all fixed so now I can start getting out lots of videos we’ve recorded recently!🪴
