Hoya wayetii ‘Tricolor’ (Hoya wayetii Kloppenb.) is a striking variegated Hoya known for its narrow, elongated leaves displaying a beautiful mix of green, cream, yellow, and pink tones. Its colorful foliage and compact vining habit make it an eye-catching collectible Hoya for indoor plant enthusiasts and tropical plant collectors.
Plant Characteristics
Hoya wayetii ‘Tricolor’ produces long, narrow, slightly fleshy leaves with pointed tips and attractive longitudinal variegation. New growth may emerge in shades of pink, coral, or red before gradually developing more defined cream, yellow, and green coloration as the leaves mature. The leaf margins can also develop darker green, bronze, or reddish tones under brighter light.
This tropical Hoya has a flexible vining growth habit and can be grown trailing from a hanging pot or trained upward on a trellis. With time and proper support, its vines can grow several feet long, creating a full and decorative display.
Care Guide
Provide bright, indirect light to maintain strong variegation and healthy growth. Avoid intense midday sun, especially on the lighter variegated areas, as they may scorch more easily.
Water thoroughly after the upper portion of the growing medium has partially dried. Avoid keeping the roots constantly wet. Moderate to high humidity around 50–70% is ideal, together with good airflow. Maintain temperatures around 65–85°F.
Use a light, chunky, well-draining Hoya mix containing materials such as orchid bark, coco chips, perlite, and other airy components. Always use a pot with adequate drainage. Care level is generally easy to moderate.
