Anthurium Papillilaminum Legend, a selected form of Anthurium papillilaminum, is a striking collector Anthurium admired for its dark, velvety foliage and elegant heart-shaped leaves. Its dramatic leaf color, refined texture, and prominent venation make it a standout tropical plant for enthusiasts who appreciate premium foliage and distinctive Anthurium genetics.

Plant Characteristics

This Anthurium develops broad, cordate leaves with a soft velvet-like surface and deep green to near-black coloration as the foliage matures. The contrasting veins become increasingly visible on established leaves, creating the high-contrast appearance prized by collectors.

Anthurium papillilaminum has a compact, self-heading growth habit rather than a climbing form. Under stable indoor or greenhouse conditions, mature leaves can become significantly larger and more dramatic, although final size depends on light, humidity, nutrition, root development, and growing environment.

Care Guide

Provide bright, indirect light and protect the foliage from intense direct sunlight, which may cause leaf damage. Water when the upper portion of the growing medium begins to dry, while keeping the root zone evenly moist but never waterlogged.

Maintain humidity around 60–80% with good air circulation. This tropical Anthurium performs best at temperatures between 65–85°F and should be protected from cold drafts and prolonged temperatures below 55°F.

Use a loose, airy, well-draining aroid mix containing materials such as orchid bark, coco chips, perlite, and a small amount of moisture-retentive substrate. Good drainage and consistent environmental conditions are especially important. The care level is best considered moderate.

Why Collectors Love It

Collectors appreciate Anthurium Papillilaminum Legend for its luxurious velvet foliage, dark coloration, and bold venation. Its elegant leaf form and strong visual contrast make it an excellent choice for curated Anthurium collections and premium indoor tropical displays.

I am so incredibly late on posting this video. This plant came in 3 weeks ago now and I’m just getting to posting this and I almost thought I wasn’t going to. My editing software was not working for anything, but I got it all fixed so now I can start getting out lots of videos we’ve recorded recently!🪴
