Aglaonema pictum Bicolor Variegated, botanically known as Aglaonema pictum, is a striking tropical foliage plant admired for its distinctive two-tone green pattern and naturally camouflage-like appearance. Offered in mature size, this collectible Aglaonema delivers an established, fuller look that makes it especially attractive to rare plant enthusiasts and indoor plant collectors.
Plant Characteristics
This Aglaonema features elongated oval to lance-shaped leaves with a smooth, slightly leathery texture. Its foliage displays contrasting shades of green arranged in irregular patterns, giving each leaf a unique camouflage effect.
Aglaonema pictum has a compact, upright to slightly spreading growth habit rather than a climbing habit. Mature plants gradually form a dense cluster of stems and foliage, creating a lush tropical appearance. Leaf size and overall plant dimensions can vary depending on growing conditions and maturity.
Care Guide
Grow Aglaonema pictum Bicolor Variegated in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate moderate indoor light, although brighter filtered light generally helps maintain strong growth and attractive foliage.
Water when the upper layer of the growing medium begins to dry. Avoid keeping the roots constantly wet, as good drainage is important for healthy growth.
Maintain moderate to high humidity, preferably around 60–80%, with adequate air circulation. Ideal temperatures are approximately 65–85°F. Protect the plant from cold drafts and prolonged exposure to temperatures below 60°F.
Use a loose, well-draining tropical plant mix containing ingredients such as coco fiber, orchid bark, perlite, and other aeration materials. Its overall care level is considered moderate.
Why Collectors Love It
Collectors appreciate Aglaonema pictum Bicolor Variegated for its naturally patterned foliage, compact growth habit, and distinctive camouflage-inspired appearance. Mature specimens are particularly desirable because they provide an established display with more developed foliage from the start.
