Hoya Sunrise (Hoya lacunosa × Hoya obscura) is a popular collectible Hoya known for its attractive foliage and dramatic color transformation under brighter light. Its compact leaves can develop warm red to burgundy sun-stressed tones with contrasting green veins, giving this tropical houseplant a distinctive appearance that appeals to both new and experienced Hoya collectors.
Plant Characteristics
Hoya Sunrise produces small to medium-sized, oval to slightly elongated leaves with a smooth, firm texture and visible venation. In lower light, the foliage generally remains green, while brighter indirect light can encourage reddish, bronze, or burgundy coloration.
This Hoya has a trailing and climbing growth habit, making it suitable for hanging baskets, shelves, or trellises. Mature vines can grow several feet long with proper care. Established plants may also produce clusters of small, fragrant, star-shaped flowers under favorable growing conditions.
